I'm thinking Cold Mountain, Room, The Lovely Bones, and Slumdog Millionaire
The Hunger Games and Marley and Me are what comes to mind right now. Love, Simon is also great, but I haven't read the book yet.
Peter Pan (2003), Alice in Wonderland (1951) and The Maze Runner
I loved the 1982 movie adaptation of "The Chosen" by Chaim Potok! Same witty dialogue, but it cut down on the really dense parts of the book.
Heck yes to The Maze Runner movies, those ones were pretty rad and followed the books pretty well.
It's a classic, but I thought the adaptation of "To Kill a Mockingbird" was great. It just did such a good job of capturing that same emotion that the book did!
As a vet I'm partial to military books/movies and if anyone is in the same boat you've got to read Lone Survivor - Operation Redwing. Mark Wahlberg plays the SEAL who survived but the movie doesn't come close to doing it justice. The book is so good its bone-chilling
Stardust is probably one of my favorites, as well as Holes and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
The Princess Bride will always be my favorite movie based off a novel. It's also just one of my favorite movies ever.
^ Can I take my answer back and second The Princess Bride? I can't believe I didn't think of that before!
