zoramcm Administrator My name is Zoraida. I am a young college student--yes, a soon to graduate, panicking senior--and a literature lover and writer. After browsing this site, reading a few articles,I have decided to introduce myself. Hi everyone! :cheer: I was going to say "I'm an aspiring fiction writer," but then I remembered that after writing for a couple of years my first fiction piece is to be published this month on a small literary magazine! I have previously written articles for a few professional blogs and online magazines. But, all things considered, I am still starting out and looking for opportunities, which is one of the reasons I am excited to be here. Of course, I am also excited to become a part of a community that likes talking about literature!

Essie Author I second Jones' comments! I'm truly jealous of your name. :) And congrats indeed on your first publicaton! That's so exciting :cheer: Yay graduating college! What's your degree in? What types of blog posts/articles have you done before? And what's your favorite genre of literature? I think I speak for everyone when I say I'm really glad you found us. TBL has a lot of opportunities for aspiring writers, so don't be shy! haha Have you looked into our Spring Literary Contests? I highly recommend them! Here's the link for details if you need: tetheredbyletters.com/index.php/submissions/contest-submission Welcome again!

zoramcm Administrator Thanks for the compliments on the name! I'll be sure to check out the contests, Essie! And to post the link for my story, Jones! I'm double majoring in English and History of Art and Architecture, with a concentration in architecture. The combination is a bit strange when you think of the concentration, but I wanted to be an architect for a while before I realized I like looking at buildings and talking about them more than I am capable of designing a large structure that won't fall apart. I was a contributor for a couple of months in a blog for writers called Write Anything, and then after that I was a blogger and editor for Whither the Book, an arts in the new media blog. In terms of favorite genre literature, if I am feeling particularly nerdy, I would say I have fallen in love with the literary fiction of 1920s-30s modernists (Woolf, Faulkner, Joyce, I love them), and I like some contemporary literary fiction too. But I also really like books/stories that deal with fantasy and science fiction, although I would be really intimated if I got qu estioned on these two by someone who really, really, really likes this genre. Some writers that randomly come to mind just because I recently read something by them: George Saunders, Neil Gaiman, Isaac Marion.

Hughes Author Architecture! We'll have to tell Annie (Annie runs the TBL graphic design department, having a similar realization about architecture and a love of reading). P.s. Not to plug TBL too much (but what can I say! I love my job), you should think about our internships. Easily, one of the best choices I ever made for my career. Ps. If you like Marion, it's a shame you missed his interview/forum posts with us. That was so much fun!

zoramcm Administrator Hughes, I actually found out about TBL because I saw the article on Warm Bodies and then I saw the interview after I registered. I'm sad I missed it! I might actually consider the internship program, especially since I do want to be involved with publishing and books in general once I graduate.

Hughes Author Really? That's awesome! Marion is a really cool guy. Well, if you have any questions about the internship, just holler!

zoramcm Administrator Sooo my story "Morning Coffee" is officially in print! I know a couple of you were interested in reading it (yay friends!). You can find a pdf to the magazine (Coup d'Etat)here: bucoup.com/winter-13-14-issue/ Also Coup is a new student-run literary magazine in Boston University (this is the first issue) and I helped put it together, so I'm extremely excited about this publication. :cheer:

Essie Author Zoraida! I'm so excited you shared your story with us. :) I just read it, and it was so lovely and wonderfully written! Well done indeed. I really think that sort of writing style would be perfect for a flash fiction here at TBL. :)
