Formatting Guidelines

Regardless of how captivating your stories are, unless your submissions have correct formatting, your work will not be accepted by a publisher. Proper presentation is key to gaining interest from editors and agents, proving that you are both serious enough to abide by professional guidelines and respectful of both the editor’s and agent’s time taken to review your work.

At Tethered by Letters, you submit your work the same as you would to large publishing houses, commercial magazine publications, and literary competitions.*

Here is how your work should be formatted:

First and Last name                                                                                                                                                                                          Word Count: # of Words
Address (Line 1)
Address (Line 2)
Phone Number
Email address

Title

Content should be 12 point font, double spaced, with a .5 inch indent on all paragraphs. Please see the example below for further reference:

Specifically for TBL submissions:

When submitting your contribution to the TBL website, please review our publications and select the one you feel your work fits best. Select this publication (either Noteworthy, Dually Noted, Monthly Feature, Collective Perspective, or Bolide) when you submit.

Please note: Your assigned TBL editor will NOT read your work if it is not properly formatted. A publishing house, literary agency, or magazine will do the same.

Please note: Members who have reached the rank of Publisher do not have to submit through the website and can email their work directly to their assigned editor.
