New Monthly Feature!

In this month’s featured story, Carol Michaels explores the inescapability of the past. As her story, “Fading In” opens, our protagonists returns to his home town, only to find that in his absence, his old world has shattered. With a mysterious murder hanging over him, he struggles to navigate the faded memories of his past, ensnared by both the seduction and ruthlessness of the life he’d run away from.

After hours of reading, we are thrilled to announce the Spring Literary Contest winners! Although the competition was fierce, Johanna Lipford takes the prize for her story, "Dinner with the Prince of the Air."
Our five finalist—Magdalena O'Sullivan, Keren Toledano, Tyler Lacoma, Becky Neher, and Howard Englander—also delivered fabulous stories, and we look forward to working with them in the months to come. For our flash fiction competition, we were blown away by Marie Gethins' "Norell and Nicotine." The works of Claude Clayton Smith, John Miller, and Samantha Timms were selected as our finalists, showing incredible potential as well.

New Contest Open!

Tethered by Letters is excited to announce that we are now accepting submissions for our Summer Literary Competitions. We invite writers from around the globe to submit their best short stories and flash fictions. Although all submissions are welcome, our judges are particularly drawn to stories with interesting narratives, innovative ideas, and engaging characters. With $300 dollars in prizes and publication in our Summer Literary Journal, we accept only the best works of literature. Good luck to all our talented writers! The deadline for this contest is June 30th.

Dually Noted is Starting Again!

We know you've all been terribly upset about the hiatus of our ever popular group-writing project, Dually Noted, and we sure are sorry. Unfortunately, we had to put our current story, "Rubra Vera," on hold so we could focus on other projects (like this stellar peer-review system you'll get to experience this summer). Luckily, we'll be back in action in May, so start sending us additions today! Remember, submissions should be approximately 500 words, mimic the style of the story, and push the plot forward. Good luck everyone! We can't wait to see where the story goes!

Winter Literary Journal is Now Available!

TBL is excited to announce that our second quarterly journal is now available! In this exciting new journal, you'll find new short stories and flash fictions, an interview with author Dan Josefson, a most recent group writing project, and two nonfiction features, one by the acclaimed Claire Bidwell Smith and the other by TBL editor, Alex Canby! This edition also includes the winning fiction from our Winter Literary Competitions.
