Writers’ Forum Short Story Contest 

Open to all writers, this contest seeks stories between 1000 and 3000 words. Submissions will be judged by Sue Moorcroft and Lorraine Mace. For an addition £5, the judges will critique submission and give feedback.

Dayton is promoting new writers joining the profession for the first time and young writers that want to try to get some experience and test their skills. This contest’s submissions must be original and previously unpublished.

WOW Flash Fiction Contest

Open to all writers, submit your flash fiction of up to 750 words for cash prizes, an Amazon gift certificate, along with publication on and an interview with Women On Writing Blog. Open prompt, however contestants are encouraged to keep it a light, fun read.

Fish Publishing International Short Story Contest

Fish Publishing will be publishing ten short stories in their next anthology. Stories may not be more than 5,000 words long, and may be of any subject, style, or genre. Winners will not only receive the cash prize but be flow out to the Anam Cara Writers’ and Artists Retreat in West Cork’s Beara Peninsula.

Press 53 Award for Short Fiction

53/Prime Number Magazine will publish one unpublished collection of short stories. This contest is open to any writer, regardless of his or her publication history, provided the manuscript is written in English and the author lives in the United States. The winner of this contest will receive publication, a $1,000 cash advance, travel expenses and lodging for a special reading and book signing party at Press 53 headquarters at the Community Arts Café in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina, attendance to the 2014 Press 53/Prime Number Magazine Gathering of Writers, and ten copies of the book; all prizes will be awarded upon publication.

Nassau Review Writers Awards

Open to all writers. Nassau Review of Nassau Community College is accepting submissions of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry to be published in the next issue. Short stories and flash fictions are accepted from 100-3000 words; Nonfictions accepted from 100-3000 words; and poems are accepted with a 50 line maximum. The theme is “The Art of Science”.
